The Makerspace at the UCHS Library is an opportunity for you to come learn some new skills, tinker with ideas and materials, as well as trying out new things you have never tried before. We have scheduled and open times for people to come and go.
Wednesdays in the Makerspace we have Craftstravaganza. We wanted to have a place and time for those who enjoy crafting to come out and learn some new skills or even teach other people, and to just have fun. Last year we did a bit of knitting and crochet, but we also have supplies for things like card making, scrapbooking, origami, etc. We would love to hear what kinds of crafts you would like to do. We'll be sending out a survey to get some ideas for this year's crafting time so be sure to look for that. Come on out and meet other crafty people so we can all learn from each other. Mentor: Mrs. Kripps
Tuesdays and Thursdays is Bot City. If you are interested in learning how to build robots, program robots, or just play around and experiment with electronics, come on out at lunch times Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have 5 kits of robots, and various electronics to play with, and will adding things throughout the year. You don't need to know anything about robots or programming to attend, you will learn as you go. Mentor: Mr. Whyte
The Library is open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. So any time a class is not in the library, you can come in and play with robots, craft, use the LEGO table, experiment with video shooting and editing (even with our green screen), or try your hand and research a project you wish to try. Come before school, at lunch, or after school.
Throughout the year there will be workshops to let you learn new skills from people passionate about things! Keep your eye open for upcoming workshops and come on out.
