Robot Rumble Team
Open to grades 9-12, males or females. 2 teams with 2 members, but could have more. The Robot Rumble is a provincial competition of schools to compete in direct robot competition. The robots we create are called SumoBots, and they compete the same way Sumo wrestlers compete. To compete, we need to build, program, and test our robots to find an opponent and then push the opponent out of the ring before the opponent finds us. No skills are necessary to join the team, you will learn everything you need to know from programming to strategies. Practices are once per week, and the competition is in Saskatoon at the Sask. Polytechnic campus. Top prizes are tuition grants for attending Sask. Polytechnic. This club will run from the beginning of Feb to end of March. If interested see Mr. Whyte!
Vex Robotics Team
Open to students in grades 8-12, males or females. Up to 8 members. The VEX robotics team builds and programs a robot to complete a challenge. This year's challenge is called Starstruck, where robots have to move large stars and big bean bags into the opponent's area. Students will expect to learn how to plan and design, build, test, and program a robot to complete specific challenges. There are various jobs on the team, planning and building, driving, and strategy. All members need to work together to complete a working robot. Vex will run from the start of December to the start of March. For more information see: Mr. Whyte!
