Administering Prescribed Medication

Please make every effort to administer prescription drugs at home when possible. If necessary, prescribed medication will be administered to your child once you have filled out the Prescribed Medication Form (contact the school secretary for this form) and have provided us with the medication and instructions for administering. All prescription medication will be kept in a secure location.

Self-administered medication (such as asthma inhalers) must be labeled with your child’s name and dosage. This type of medication will be stored in the secretary’s office where your child can access it as needed. All medications will be sent home with students on the last day of school in June.

Administering Non-Prescription Drugs

We keep a supply of the following non-prescription drugs at school:

  • Tylenol (Junior Strength – Meltaway pill – 160 mg)
  • Tylenol (Regular Strength Caplets – 325 mg)
  • Motrin (Ibuprofen Tablets – gelcaps – 200 mg)

If your child requests medication during the course of the day you will be contacted. We will not administer non-prescription medication without your permission or your emergency contact’s permission.
