The day began with an orientation of Hafford Central School and the Town of Hafford through a Video Scavenger Hunt. Equipped with digital camaras they were to locate various items at the school, town and playground. Three Hafford Central students were matched with a group of Walter Murray students. This provided students and opportunity to explore with the use of technology. From Hafford they went on to Redberry Lake and spent time in the famous Rose Bowl in a match of soccer. Students explored the beach, checked out the local birds(famous for the Pelican and Piping Plover)and could visit the Interpretive Center. Food was part of their visit and all students were treated to an international potluck. The day was organized by Pat Cone, teacher at Hafford Central and Corrine Geres, teacher at Walter Murray. Students from Walter Murray were excited to visit a small school, a small town and nearby lake as many new immigrants often do not leave the city. It was an opportuntiy to practice English, meet new friends and learn about different cultures. What a great learning experience for all!
