A Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP) is the professional responsible for the prevention, identification, diagnosis, and intervention of communication problems.
The S-LP meets individually with the student to complete a variety of standardized communication tests. Additional information is often requested from teachers and parents or gathered through direct observation.
Recommendations may include individual or group intervention, with any of the following education team members: Classroom teacher, student services teacher, speech-language educational assistant, and/or the S-LP.
Suggestions may be provided to the parents to help them support their child as he/she learns new skills.
